An dësem Punkt wäerte sech d’Clibb austauschen fir gutt an sécher Konzepter op d’Been ze stellen am Sënn vun de Kanner.

The Total League season will pause until the 1st of January

Following the press conference by our sports Minister this afternoon, during which the rules and restrictions for sports were explained in the context of the Covid-19-virus, the basketball federation met tonight with the 13 clubs from the Total League to discuss the continuation of the basketball competitions in the highest leagues.

The basketball federation appreciates our government’s openness to continue the Total League season under certain conditions. However, the majority of the Total League clubs communicated their desire to interrupt the season in order to minimize all the risks, and so the basketball federation took the decision to interrupt the Total League season until at least the 1st of January 2021 (thus aligning with the restrictions applying to all other leagues and championship games).

Hence, the basketball federation would like to express its solidarity with the Luxembourg community by helping to reduce the spreading of the Covid-19-virus over the next two months.

Furthermore, an urgent extraordinary general meeting with all its clubs will be convened to discuss the restart of the basketball season in 2021.

Finally, the clubs and the basketball federation unanimously expressed their common will to continue youth practices to allow young players to practice and play the sport that they love. Together, they will develop save practice conditions for the benefit of the youth.
